Consultation & Preparation
for Liposuction

The first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Sanchez-Navarro to discuss all  of the details and get an accurate price quote. During the appointment, he reviews the patient’s medical history and determines if they are a good candidate for this surgical procedure. The areas for fat removal are also evaluated. Dr. Sanchez-Navarro takes the time to understand the patient’s goals and expectations as well as explain how  the operation will be performed.

Next, the surgeon provides pre-procedure instructions. Patients may need to adjust their medications, stop smoking for a month before the operation, and get lab tests done. Arrangements should also be made for a drive home. It is best to ask someone (a family member, a friend, or a hired caregiver) to stay with the patient for the first 24 hours after the procedure. Clearance from a primary care physician may also be required before we begin the surgery.

VASER Liposuction Procedure

Anesthesia

We use general anesthesia to put the patient to sleep and minimize discomfort during the procedure. The surgery is performed in our state-accredited surgical center, and the anesthesia is performed by our board-certified anesthesiologist. Dr. Sanchez-Navarro also injects a tumescent solution into the fat layers. This solution contains local anesthesia (lidocaine), saline, and epinephrine.

Incisions

Small incisions (less than a quarter inch) are made in the treatment area. These tiny openings allow the VASER® probe to be inserted under the skin and target excess fat deposits. Only a few minor incisions are needed for the entire procedure.

Melting of Fat Cells
